A huge thank you to everyone who made a donation towards the SPCA Paws Appeal. A special thank you also goes out to the hundreds of volunteers (both two-legged and four-legged!) across the country who gave their time to act as official collectors for their SPCAs. Thank you so much for helping the SPCA continue its important work in your community.

The SPCA Paws Appeal is the SPCA’s annual fundraising appeal. As one of New Zealand’s most respected animal welfare charities, we have been protecting and caring for animals for over 125 years.

We receive less than 2% of our funding from the government, with this funding ear-marked for rural cases only – those involving animals on farms across New Zealand. The other 98% of our funding comes from memberships, bequests, and donations from the public.

This year has seen some unbelievably horrific cases of abuse carried out on innocent creatures across the country. Our annual List of Shame highlights just a few of the most atrocious of these cases.

We need your help. It costs over $14 million per year for us to carry out our vital work for the animals of New Zealand.

Please help us to help those who cannot help themselves.

If you are interested in volunteering during appeal week, your local SPCA would greatly appreciate your time. Please visit our Contacts page to find contact details for your SPCA, and get involved!
